Homework...to be done at home, but not so much work!

Nightly homework in our room will be different. As I tell the kids, reading is the most important 20-30 minutes of the day. Please support your child with reading as much and as often as possible. If you are having a hard time finding reading materials at home, let me know and I’ll be happy to help your child find something.

Homework philosophies have changed throughout the years. That being said, I'm here to support you and the needs of your child, keeping in mind that all children are different. Once a week I will send home a week's work of materials for practice to support those students who need and want structured homework each night. I will ask that you read with your child or have genuine conversations about the books he or she is reading. I will encourage your child to communicate, play, be social and active as a part of their homework.

Here are some things I won't do:
  • Punish your child for not handing homework in
  • Call home and ask where his or her practice sheets are
  • Remind your child to bring homework home or back to school every day
The channels of communication are always open. If you need something from me to help you help your child, please let me know!
